Our Design & Build Process.
Simply better.

When you build with us, we make sure the process is simple, enjoyable and stress free. By choosing us, you become part of the Barrett whānau and we’ll always do right by you.

The way we make it happen. Barrett and you, together.

Step
1
:

Initial Consulation

Whether your enquiry came through a referral from friends who have built with us, our website, social media, our show home, or you made contact on the phone, the first step on our journey together is an “Initial Consultation”. We'll talk about your wants, needs and desires for the build along with the budget you have in mind. We'll go through any suitable Standard Plans, along with the Barrett Design & Build Process. If you wish to make adjustments to a current Standard Plan or you wish to draw a plan from scratch, this will go through to our Design Team for a full "Concept Plan Meeting".

Step
2
:

Concept Plan Meeting & Working Drawings

Concept plans are about capturing all your ideas on paper (using the latest CAD drawing programmes) to come up with a plan for your new home. You will meet with one of our Designers who will carefully listen to your requirements. Once a plan has been set, our designer will be back within 15 days with a dimensioned footprint, elevations, site plan and indicative budget for the project.

Step
3
:

Quote & Build Agreement

Once you are happy with the design and we have the working plans and specifications in place, our QS team are able to accurately identify the investment level required to complete the project. We’ll go through this quotation with you and invite you to enter into an agreement with us to proceed. Once the agreement is finalised, we will then lodge your plans into Council for Building Consent.

Step
4
:

Building Begins!

Once approved by Council, your build can begin - allowing you to see your plans turn from paper to reality! Our inter-active online system will keep you informed throughout the entire build, with photo updates, install dates and more!

Step
5
:

Handover & Ongoing Support!

Your Construction Manager will keep you updated on all milestones for the build! Possession can take place when Code of Compliance (final site pass) has been issued. Our commitment to you is ongoing - once you’re settled in and enjoying your new home, we will continue to keep in contact to ensure any issues that might arise are addressed. Welcome Home!
